Hi folks, sorry I haven't been posting in this blog lately. I don't spend too much time on the computer these days, well the Internet is a terrible time sink and I've always got so many things to do outdoors. With that said, my last post , way back when got talking about cuts and scrapes but I think I want to change the direction of this blog some.
My thoughts is that I don't have a personal blog as such, so this one, being my first, ought to be my main life and times type of thing. So that's what I'll do with it, because I can!
hell, I couldn't think up too much more about health and safety around the home anyhow, so this is much better now I can write pretty much what I please and no one is gonna tell me different!
So I just thought it might make a nice post to talk about the party I have scheduled for tomorrow night just in case any friends want to know its still happening and I'll email you all with the details.
Plus, as I don't hold all that many parties at my place, this is something of a special occasion in itself. Hell, my friends will probably force me to have more of them after this one cause I know it'll be a resounding success. I got a garage full of beer, more food than an army of hungry sumo wrestlers could get through and three barbecues under cover with willing volunteer chefs all standing by to cook it all on! There are heaters out on the covered patio so the cold weather won't bother us none either. Hell, this is gonna rock!
The sound system is all set up and the neighbors have all been invited along so the complaints can only come from the next street! Get ready for a power weekend of dancing, drinking and making with the merriment!
Cool,
Now I feel like I might write some more stuff in here. Laters dudes and dudesses!

Paper Cuts
Well, my last post My Own Cuts and Scrapes, said it all about some real beauties of cuts and scrapes that I manage to give myself without any help from anyone else.
This post will look at some other minor accidents that happen around the house or more in keeping with my little accident today, paper cuts! Yep, they never amount to anything big or life threatening, but them little nicks you get, usually on your hand or between your fingers off paper or cardboard when it slices across your skin edge on, well they sting like a bitch!
And damn if they won't stop bleeding for ages.
What to do in these circumstances is give the cut a run under the cold tap for a while to calm things down and clean out the mini wound. Then my favourite remedy is a little of the precious aloe vera gel straight from the leaf of teh plant put onto the soft gauze patch of a bandaid - offer up the gauze patch plus aloe vera to the cut and wrap the bandaid tight around it to stem the bleeding.
That works pretty much every time, though I sometimes have to sit down and relax with my hand in the air for ten minutes or so to make sure the bleeding has stopped before I get on with some other things.
So there you go, simple and effective treatment for those damn nasty little paper cuts and scrapes fixed in a jiffy and an excuse for a nice break - with some coffee and a chocolate chip cookie or several to take your mind off the paper cut... hehe

My Own Cuts and Scrapes
In my last post Cuts and Scrapes, I talked about all the things you can do about the average day's accumulation of cuts abnd scrapes. So now you know what to do when you get those annoying and sometimes dangerous cuts and scrapes, where do we go from there?
Well, its time to tell you about something that happened to me today while I was working in a firend's garden.
You see, I enjoy a spot of gardening and weeding and hoeing are no problem to me as that's just the sort of thing that whiling away the odd hour or two on a sunny morning wah made for. So today I was doing some digging - something that gardeners refer to as the neverending chore - when I slipped with the shovel. Or more precisely, my foot slipped off the shovel and I scraped my shin quite badly.
You know its a funny thing - not funny ha ha, more like funny strange - but whenever you hurt your shin doesn't it alway feel ten times worse than it really is? I mean, jeez, how can something hurt like that and not really have that much damage? Anyhows, I scraped my shin with the sharp top edge of this shovel and took a layer of skin off about three inches long and you would not have wanted to be outside on that street - I cussed like a demon!
Well I defy anyone to do that to their shin and be able to keep their mouth shut!
Lucky I knew what to do, so I ran inside - on the way grabing a spear of Aloe Vera from the plant that grows in a pot near the backdoor - and washed the scrape in fresh water and dabbed it dry with a clean kleenex (yeah, straight outa the box!). I then applied some sweet Aloe Vera gunge direct from the spear that I split open with a clean knife (not the one that I'd just sliced up some ham with!) straight onto the scrape area.
Man, I have to say that the Aloe Vera soothed the pain almost immediately. No sting like you get when you put on disinfectant, Aloe Vera does a much better job of keeping out the germs while helping the scrape heal real fast.
I wrapped some gauze around it to keep the flies off (!!) ok, I'm kiddin' its really to help keep the wound clean and give the Aloe Vera a chance to do its thing.
How do I know this stuff works so well?
As a veteran collector of all kinds of cuts and scrapes by being such a clumsy lunkhead, I'm forever having to patch them up - and I've found that Aloe Vera not only soothes any cut or scrape I get, bit it heals them up much faster than any propiety salve or balm that you can buy at the pharmacist and when you grow it yourself - its free!

Cuts and Scrapes
Last Post: RunAway Scrape. Introduction to runaway scrape blog and what's it all about, especially the fact that it covers most types of runaway scrape away types of accidental misfortumes etc. This post looks at a common ailmant which can happen at any time and result in cuts and scrapes!
Minor cuts and scrapes don't usually require a trip to the ER. Yet proper care is essential to avoid infection or other complications. These guidelines can help you care for simple cuts and scrapes and wounds:
Stop the bleeding. Minor cuts and scrapes usually stop bleeding on their own. If they don't, apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth or bandage. Hold the pressure for 20 to 30 minutes. If the blood spurts or continues to flow after continuous pressure, seek medical assistance.
Clean the wound. Rinse out the cuts and scrapes wound with clear water. Soap can irritate, so try to keep it out of the actual wound. If dirt or debris remains in the wound after washing, use tweezers cleaned with alcohol to remove the particles. If debris remains embedded in the wound after cleaning, see your doctor. To clean the area around the wound, use soap and a washcloth.
Apply an antibiotic. After you clean the cuts and scrapes wound, apply a thin layer of an antibiotic cream or ointment to help keep the surface moist. The products don't make the wound heal faster, but they can discourage infection and allow your body's healing process to close the wound more efficiently.
Cover the wound. Bandages can help keep the cuts and scrapes wound clean and keep harmful bacteria out. After the wound has healed enough to make infection unlikely, exposure to the air will speed cuts and scrapes healing.
Change the dressing. Change the cuts and scrapes dressing at least daily or whenever it becomes wet or dirty. If you're allergic to the adhesive used in bandages, switch to adhesive-free dressings or sterile gauze held in place with paper tape, gauze roll or a loosely applied elastic bandage.
Prevention is better than cure, so try to stay safe at all times.
